Basic processes of energy conversion, storage and transmission for renewable energy will be covered including their devices in a form of convergence system. Background information on chemical, physical, electrical and thermal energy conversion systems will be provided in this course work so that students can understand basic concept and working principles of convergence system composed of various energy systems like rechargeable batteries and supercapacitors, solar energy conversion, thermoelectrics offering new perspectives on future state-of-the-arts energy devices and their prospects for efficient applications. This course aims to provide a fundamental and comprehensive understandings to the students who wants to research novel convergence renewable energy systems and their applications.

This course provides a road map for understanding renewable energy production protocols by the hybridization of highly functionalized materials with small organic molecules, and also introduces the mechanism of various chemical reactions (such as biodiesel, methanol, hydrogen and formic acid formations). In particular, this course aims to offer a comprehensive knowledge of organic chemistry and material science for a better understanding renewable energy integrated system, which will significantly help students when carrying out related projects.

This course aims to provide a fundamental and comprehensive understandings to the students who wants to research novel energy storage systems and electrode materials.

Using by fossil fuel, the societal problems of energy crisis and global warming will be identified. Scientific as well as technological advancement for the sustainable society will be discussed. Lecture on the fundamental knowledge and technologies related with a critical issue of humanity aiming sustainable society via the development of renewable energy industry will be offered. A new energy paradigm of transferring to the low-carbon society and sustainable world occurs on the basis of ALI, IoT, Cloud, Big Data, provoking the convergence of those technologies and renewable energy industry. Scientific knowledge as well as technological advancement for the sustainable renewable energy industry will be discussed. Renewable energy, in combination with organic chemistry, form the cornerstone of a viable solution for global warming and climate change. Renewable energy integrated system will provide the optimal pathway to get the energy source utilizing safe, reliable, affordable and widely available technologies. The conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2), an abundant renewable carbon reagent, into chemicals of academic and industrial interest is of imminent importance to create a higher degree of sustainability in chemical processing and production. This course aims to deliver the working principles, and reaction mechanism of CO2 conversion into value-added renewable chemicals for renewable energy integrated system, providing new insights into the development of the novel, efficient energy catalyst systems.

This class aims to provide a sort of experience for realizing intellectual property from individual’s research. We will learn about general knowledge on patent system to understand how such system grants a right from R&D product. And students will construct a patent map for certain research field to explore blank technology which can potentially become a patent. All students should learn how to file up patent document based on individual’s research result or certain topics.

This class is about the introduction to the magnetic and spin devices. The magnetic and spin devices is considered as low-power information device. To understand the basic principle of spin devices, a combined knowledge of physics, material science, and electronics is required. This class starts from the basic principle of magnetism and covers magnetic materials, magnetization dynamics, spintronics, and spin memory and logic.

This class is about new technology for information processing and storage. I will lecture about the working principles in terms of power consumption and procession speed of the current computing system, which consists of central procession unit, cash memory, main memory, and persistant storage. In addition, I will introduce research and developments of new technology of information processing and storage.

This class covers fundamental principle and engineering of electron-photon energy conversion materials and devices, particularly focusing on electroluminescence devices. Students will gain knowledge on prerequisites regarding on material selection, design concepts for high efficiency devices and efficiency-limiting factors. Additionally, state-of-the-art electroluminescence technologies based on novel nanomaterials will also be discussed in this class.
