- Department of Energy Science Prof. Heejun Yang, listed on '30 of Young Scientists who will Make Korea Shine'
- Dong-A Ilbo-POSTECH Joint Project 30th Anniversary of University Founding '30 of Young Scientists who will Make Korea Shine' 《POSTECH singled out '30 of Young Scientists who Make Korea Shine' with Dong-A Ilbo, for 30th anniversary of its founding, 3th December. This is an attempt to broaden bases of basic science that leads Korea's future 30 years and become a motive power for preparing leap. The selection committee chose 6 young scientists who are not over early 40s per fundamental study field like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Life Science, Earth·Estronamy, ect, total 5 areas, 30 scientists. It chose them from various universities such as 5 from POSTECH, 3 each from SNU and Yonsei University, 1 each from SKKU and Chung-Ang University, ect. Doyeon Kim, president of POSTECT, 23th said "With huge responsibilty, POSTECH which has top-level research capabiliy of Asia is willing to discover and encourage hidden stones who have large potentials in basic science field rather than scientists who got attention already. The chairman of selection committee Kimun Kim(professor of chemistry, POSTECH) said "It is surprising and pleasing to comfirm the fact that "rising scientists reach a much higher level of achievement than expected"》 ○ Physics Area Prof. Heejun Yang(36), Department of Energy Science, SKKU, primally implemented graphene-silicon varistor. - SKKU-NU held Joint Symposium
- Dept. of Biomedical Engineering (Chair: Min Ah SUH) of SKKU and Nagoya University (President: Seiichi Matsuo) held a joint symposium at SKKU Natural Science Campus N Center from Nov 24th (Thurs) to Nov 25th (Fri). From the symposium, the two universities made development on △strengthening exchanges and joint researches △finding global trend of researches by inviting distinguished international scholars △enlarging network of researchers and adapting new technologies in the field of neuroscience △expanding joint research fields by holding regular joint symposium △searching ways to activate researchers, and more. SKKU’s Global Biomedical Engineering Department was established in 2015 with the aim to cultivate top world experts through the development of core areas in the field of biomedical engineering. The Center for Neuroscience Imaging Research (Director: Seong Gi KIM) of the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) is studying neuro imaging technology using functional magnetic resonance imaging technology, in order to find mechanisms of the brain. Dept. of Global Biomedical Engineering is one of many global departments at SKKU, while the Center for Neuroscience Imaging Research is the main research institute which receives financial support from the government. From this event, they were able to raise their global brand power though promotions in such areas as research goal, vision, research infra, and performance. The next joint symposium will be held at Nagoya University on Nov 2017 under the theme of Mobility in Industry. SKKU-NU Group Photo Vice-president. - [CNIR] Develop a soft, transparent, freely accessible cranial window
- Develop a soft, transparent, freely accessible cranial window for chronic imaging and electrophysiology Seong-Gi Kim who is director of Center for Neuroscience Imaging Research (CNIR), Institute for Basic Science (IBS), and the other researchers developed a soft, transparent, freely accessible cranial window for chronic imaging and electrophysiology. Real-time hemodynamic responses were successfully monitored during sensory stimulation. This makes to overcome the limitations of conventional cranial window approaches and perform various experiments in brains at the stable state. The result is published in the online ‘Scientific Reports’. URL : http://news.donga.com/3/all/20160612/78616644/1
