Development of technology to increase energy generation of semiconductor materials in two dimensions
Yoo Won-jong Sungkyunkwan University Professor "Impact ionization increases electron
The Korea Research Foundation announced that the research team of Prof. Yoo of Sungkyunkwan University developed an electron generation technology based on accelerated impact ionization in electronic materials.
While researching electron transport of two-dimensional materials thinner than paper, the team observed that this phenomenon was happening in the black. Black is literally black Phosphorus (element symbol P). The researchers produced a 'protective black' device to prevent black phosphorus from oxidizing in air. In this black phosphor element, the number of electrons increases by 10 times or more as the voltage increases, and the current also accelerates. This can greatly improve not only the semiconductor performance but also energy efficiency.
The research was carried out with support from the Ministry of Science and Technology Information and Communication, Korea Research Foundation Basic Research Project (Global Laboratory).
A paper on the achievements was published in Nature Communications 24th.
