Development of optical synapse semiconductor device
The Korea Research Foundation announced on December 9 that Professor Park Jin-hong of Sungkyunkwan University and Seo Seung-hwan integrated research student team have developed optic synapse semiconductor device technology that imitates optic nerve.
Nyumochipchip, which imitates the principle of human brain operation, is attracting attention as next generation information processing technology. Power consumption can be minimized while processing a large amount of information, and its own computation function can be enhanced.
The team combined synaptic mimic semiconductor devices with optical semiconductor sensors to create components that exhibited different synaptic properties in different colors.
The research was carried out by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Information and Communication, the Korea Research Foundation, the Nanomaterial Technology Development Project, and the Basic Research Project.
A paper was published on November 30 in Nature Communications.
