Successful development of bio-catalyst for synthesis of anti-inflammatory agent
-Enzyme activity improvement through protein engineering research based on protein structure-
Professor Kim Kyung-gyu of the Department of Medicine has identified the three-dimensional structure of the protein enzyme Est-Y29 extracted from soil microorganisms. Through research on structure-based protein engineering, it is possible to produce environmentally friendly kettophen which is one of the main raw materials for external anti- The company said.
The production of fine chemicals such as pharmaceuticals has been done through chemical synthesis, but some approaches require the use of environmentally friendly biocatalysts that can replace or replace hazardous substances due to economic inefficiencies.
Professor Kim Kyung-kyu, "In this study, we developed a bio-catalyst that can replace chemical catalysts through a protein engineering approach based on the three-dimensional structure of proteins, and through this, we proposed the possibility of producing environmentally friendly effective drugs such as ketoprofen" He said.
This research was carried out by the Rural Development Administration's next-generation Bio Green 21 project and the Korea Research Foundation. The study was published online on December 24 at ACS Catalysis, an international journal of catalysis.
