This course explores the field of data visualization. Topics cover the expanse of visualization from data preparation and cleaning to visualization types such as time series, box plots, and violin plots. Included in our study are visualization tools, online interactive visualizations, and other issues related to the display of big data.

This course will cover elementary topics in statistics using Python. The statistics topics include principles of sampling, descriptive statistics, binomial and normal distributions, sampling distributions, point and confidence interval estimation, hypothesis testing, two sample inference, linear regression, and categorical data analysis. Using Python, students will learn basic knowledge in Python programming, data management, data formats and types, statistical graphics and exploratory data analysis, and basic functions for statistical modeling and inference.

As, among them, therapeutic antibodies are the most important biologics, the lecture will focus on antibodies, antibody alternatives, antibody conjugates and vaccines. At the beginning of the lecture, students will learn the basic immunology necessary to understand the principle of therapeutic antibody, and then history of therapeutic antibody development, the method to develop therapeutic antibody, and antibody conjugates.

Pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) modeling is a technique that analyzes and predicts the pharmacokinetics and effects of a drug using mathematical modeling. The PK/PD modeling has been widely used to set the optimal dosage regimens, and recently become an essential tool in the drug development process. In this course, students will practice computer-based PK/PD modeling and learn how to use this model in the drug development process. Students will also learn model-based drug development (MBDD) based on traditional PK/PD knowledge as well as IT skills. After completing this course, student are expected to perform more productive PK/PD evaluations.

This course deals with regulatory affairs and related regulatory science knowledge required for research and development and commercialization of biopharmaceuticals. In particular, it includes the regulatory policies of major countries as well as domestic licenses to gain the knowledge necessary for global advancement. The goal of this course is to understand the regulatory affairs and related knowledge required for the practical application of biopharmaceuticals. Specific objectives are to understand the legal framework of regulatory affairs, nonclinical and clinical trial regulations, biosimilars and manufacturing / quality and related issues, to gain the basic knowledge necessary for biopharmaceutical research and development and commercialization.

A biologics discovery is a convergent result of diverse disciplines. The students can better understand by theoretical study and experiments. This lecture, which was designed by combining whole classes of this curriculum, offers the students an opportunity to perform IT-based design of drugs and preparation and characterization thereof. Upon students’ request, this class can be extended to non-class activities such as Jamboree or external academic competitions.

Quality control technology is a very important factor in the development and production of biopharmaceuticals. Especially in biopharmaceuticals, their quality control is carried out through various instrumental analysis techniques. Therefore, students will learn about a variety of instrumental analysis-based analytical techniques that have been commonly used to characterize each step of the biopharmaceutical pipeline consisting of new drug development, clinical, manufacturing, and quality control over a semester. Understanding of the basic theory and application examples is the learning goal of this course.

[Curriculum Goal] In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there is huge paradigm shift from traditional medicines to new biopharmaceuticals. In order to produce the biopharmaceutical development experts that are required by the state and industry, we will explore the development trends and core technologies of the latest gene therapy and cell therapy.
